The Silver We Use - All 3 Rexes Jewelry is made from 92.5% silver or .925 silver, which is also known as "Sterling Silver". Our silver has no lead, nickel or any other metals that cause allergic reactions or are considered poisonous.

The Gold Vermeil We Use - Vermeil (pronounced "ver-may") is a 22, 18 or 14 karat gold layer measuring 100 millionths of an inch, over sterling silver. It differs from gold plating in that its inner metal is sterling silver, rather than base metal. Please remember that your gold vermeil jewelry is delicate and fine and should be treated as such. It has the potential to slowly rub off over time if not treated with proper care.

Silver & Gold Vermeil Patina & Care
- All sterling silver and karat gold jewelry will begin to develop a lovely patina, appearing as a golden glow with darkened areas. This is a normal process called oxidization which is caused by air exposure, lotions, your body chemistry, etc. Some individuals (including myself), prefer this patina because it gives the jewelry a detailed, antique look. However, if you wish to remove the patina for a bright and shiny appearance, you can do so with gentle cloths specifically made for cleaning sterling silver jewelry. Care should be taken not to expose your silver and vermeil gold to corrosive substances or soaps that increase the chance of a chemical reaction. It is suggested that you polish pieces with a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners.

How To Store Your Silver & Gold Vermeil Jewelry - 1. Keep your 3 Rexes jewelry in an air-tight, protective bag made of tarnish proof cloth or a plastic zip lock bag. This will help slow down the oxidizing and tarnishing process. 2. Make sure your jewelry isn't rubbing up against other items in a loose drawer or jewelry box. Silver is not scratch proof! 3. Avoid storing your silver jewelry next to wood, pennies, and rubber. All of which can damage and tarnish your silver. Enjoy!
